Shooting Log

Welcome to the Shooting Log

This site is designed to be a online version of a shooting log, where you can log and review your shooting progress, as well as share your log with a coach.

How to use this site:
  1. Click on the Sign Up link, and register yourself as a user.
  2. Login and view your options on the menu.
  3. If you wish to track multiple sports, you may want to place them in the same Group if they use the same equipment. Groups allow you to share an equipment list between sports. For example Skeet and Sporting Clays may share a group, or 3 Spot and 3D Archery.
  4. Next add the Sports and Tasks you wish to track with this log. Assign them to the correct Groups as Apporpriate. You can also select weather there will be an X count in your scores, and a default maximum score value and maximum x count value. These maximum values can be changed at any time in a journal entry.
  5. You can now create your equipment lists for each Group. You can select the default equipment for each list. For example if you shoot shotgun, you may create a list for "Firearm" and have entry's for "Browning", "Winchester", and "Perazzi", you can then select "Perazzi" as the default, so when you create a new journal entry, your typically used equipment is entered by default. You will only have to make changes if you are trying something different.
  6. Now you are ready to get serious about Journal and Goal Entries.
  7. You have an option to create goals. You can track set/due/achieved dates, as well as change the status of a goal from active to achieved to changed. Changed would indicate you did not achieve the goal, but it is no longer one of your goals. You can also group your goals by Sport/Task.
  8. You also have an option to create Journal Entries. These will default to the current day. First you will need to select the Sport/Task, whether it is Training/Practice/Competition, and how many scores are involved. If it's training there will probably be no scores, so leave this field blank. If you were practising archery, you might select 3 scores, and when you go to the next page, there will be spots to enter 3 scores in that days journal entry. Carry on to fill in as much information as you want and find important for your journal entry.
  9. Journal Entries and Goal Entries can be viewed from the left menu. These pages give you a search option and breif overview. For more details, or to edit them, select them and click the View button.
Basics on using a coach.
  1. One of the neat features of this log, is you can share it with your shooting log. Provide you coach with your username on this site. They can then add you to their list of students.
  2. Once you are added to their list, you will be able to see them under your list of coaches. Confirm them, and they will then be able to view your Journal and Goal entries, as well as leave comments. They will not be able to change any of your entries, only leave comments in their own section.
Becoming a coach on this site.
  1. To become a coach, go to your preferences, and change your status to coach.
  2. Now you should get more options on you menu. (You may have to click to the home page to get your extra menu options the first time.)
  3. You can now add students, and once they have confirmed, you will be able to view their Goals and Journals from the "View Students Entries" page.
